The Yacovelli's name is one of the oldest in the St. Louis restaurant business. Founded in 1919 by John Yacovelli, ours is a family business in the finest European tradition, passed down to the present generation.

John Yacovelli came to this country in 1911 from San Salvatori, Italy. His most famous restaurant was across from Washington University. Upon his retirement in 1950, my father Dewey Yacovelli, started his own restaurant on Big Bend Road in Kirkwood, Mo. In 1953.

He originated the idea of the salad bar which would revolutionize the restaurant industry. It began a trend that is now across the country.

After working with my father for many years, I became a Restaurateur in 1977 as owner of Mr. Yac´s. On April 10, 1985, with the opening of our new restaurant, we returned to our original family name of "Yacovelli´s." With the family business now in its third generation, the goals set by my grandfather over 75 years ago are still being carried on today.

We are very proud of the fact that our own children are old enough to be part of our family business. We think our grandfather would be proud that now our fourth generation is helping to carry on his fine traditions.
