You may already know the name, heck, you may even have attended a wedding here once, but if you have not visited Yacovelli's recently, you're missing out on one of the great dining experiences in St. Louis! Family owned and operated since 1919, the fourth generation of Yacovelli's want to welcome you back.
If you've driven by Yacovelli's and thought the parking lot looked too full or you thought the wait would be too long. You made a big mistake. The restaurant looks small on the outside but once you enter it is a much different picture! The restaurant has been recently remodeled and it is beautiful. The banquet facility can hold 20-400 people, and is very elegant. There is also a bar where you can enjoy music and karaoke on Friday nights.
Let's talk about the people before we get to the food. I can now understand why this restaurant is always full. Everyone we met was more than pleasant. It was like spending the evening with family, which is exactly what you are doing. Jack and Jan along with their children are fourth generation Yacovelli's and take pride in making your dining experience an enjoyable experience.
Now let's talk food! We started with appetizers, which included spinach artichoke dip with garlic bread, toasted ravioli, shrimp cocktail and fried shrimp. The spinach artichoke dip was served hot with garlic bread and I it was the best I have ever had! The toasted ravioli was very flavorful and melted in my mouth. The shrimp was tender and delicious.
Next we sampled an array of salads. The Summer Salad with walnuts was light and tangy and a definite must. The House Salad with crabmeat and mushrooms served with Yacovelli's special homemade house dressing which was absolutely delicious! The Caesar Salad was very good as well.
For a main entrée you might choose from one of these items including mouthwatering Prime Rib, Chicken Marie charbroiled then simmered in garlic, fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, artichoke hearts in a white wine sauce, Rigatoni Alla Vodka puree ham with parmesan cheese blended in a creamed vodka sauce with a touch of marinara. I couldn't decide so I tried them all and they were wonderful.
If you didn't think that was enough let me tell you what else we sampled. Steak Diane was prepared at the table and it was unbelievable! Then there was the Lobster Tail cooked perfectly and served with melted butter. The Mignons of Pork Loin & Apples was to die for and the Pasta Filomena which was prepared with artichoke hearts and gulf shrimp sautéed in olive oil with garlic, basil and fresh tomatoes served over linguine was delicious too.
Then you should try dessert. First my daughter ordered a bowl of chocolate ice cream and said it was the best chocolate ice cream she had ever had! My choice was the Tiramisu Cheesecake but I had to try the Turtle Cheesecake and plain cheesecake. My suggestion is that you order one of everything and share with your friends!
Overall the dining experience was one of the best I have ever had and I highly recommend frequent visits to Yacovelli's. It is definitely worth the drive no matter where you live.
